1. Contact Your Legislators:

  • Tips for Contacting:

    • Be clear and concise in your message.

    • Identify yourself as a constituent and a member of the MTLP.

    • State your position on the legislation, aligning with MTLP values.

    • Show appreciation for their time and consideration.

2. Participate/Testimony:

  • Register to Testify: Use the Montana Legislature's remote participation portal at https://www.legmt.gov/participate/ Registration is due by 5 PM the business day before the hearing.

  • Submit Written Testimony: Even if you're testifying remotely or in person, written comments ensure your voice is documented in the legislative record.

  • In-Person Testimony: Just use the clipboard outside the room day of the hearing.

  • Stay Informed: Use the Legislature's bill tracking tools to stay updated on legislation that aligns with or threatens Libertarian principles.

  • Be Prepared: If you're testifying, practice your remarks. Understand the bill thoroughly and prepare to speak within time limits, respecting the structure laid out by Robert’s Rules of Order (RONR).

  • Engage Actively: Beyond formal testimonies, engage with your representatives through meetings, town halls, or community events. Promote liberty-oriented solutions and advocacy.
